This smooth and creamy white bean dip with roasted garlic makes a delicious appetizer or healthy snack. Its mild smoky flavour will make this dip a new favourite. Dairy-Free and Vegan.

This creamy white bean dip makes a great change from hummus, and is so versatile.

Serve on a platter, spread on crackers or toast with some sliced avocado and tomato or serve with some veggie sticks for a healthy snack.

The roasted garlic adds a lovely smoky flavour to the dip that goes so well with the creamy texture from the white beans.

If you are mainly dairy-free like my family, this white bean dip can be hidden in wraps, taco's, sandwiches or on toast in place of mayonnaise.

The smooth creamy texture can easily be mistaken as a dairy food. I sneak it in as it also is a good source of protein and my little boy is none the wiser!

What to serve with this Dip:

  • Cucumber or carrot sticks
  • Sliced capsicum (or bell peppers to those in the U.S)
  • Corn chips
  • Toasted pita bread
  • Use as a creamy spread for sandwhiches or wraps
  • Serve on crackers with tomato, avocado and some chopped olives
  • Serve on a platter alongside pesto, sundried tomato, olives
  • Dip your favourite seed crackers into for a quick and easy but filling healthy snack.

Additional Recipe Notes

  • You can use cannellini beans or butter beans to make this white bean dip.
  • I know it might seem like a pain to roast some garlic, but I can promise you it is worth it! It gives such a great smoky texture to the dip and gives it a well rounded flavour. You can still enjoy the bean dip without the garlic, but roasting it does take it to the next level when it comes to flavour!
  • The easiest way to roast the garlic is simply to do a whole head of garlic, what you don't use you can keep for up to 2 weeks to add to pesto, make garlic butter or add into a pasta sauce.
  • This white bean dip goes well with a variety of your favourite herbs mixed in. Sage, rosemary or oregano are some of my favourites.
  • Top the white bean dip with any leftover garlic cloves, a drizzle of good quality olive oil, extra salt and pepper, fresh parsley or other herbs.

Creamy White Bean Dip with Roasted Garlic

Yield: Roughly 8-10 appetizer servings

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

A smooth and creamy white bean dip with roasted garlic. Perfect as an appetizer or healthy snack. Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (400gm/15 oz) cannellini beans, drained.
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 4 large garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon almond milk, unsweetened
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200C or 400F. Drizzle a head of garlic with olive oil and wrap in foil or parchment paper. Cook for 20 minutes then remove to cool.
  2. Place all of the ingredients into a food processor and blitz until smooth.
  3. Garnish with the leftover garlic heads, a drizzle of oilve oil, salt and pepper, or your favourite herbs and serve.
