Firstly I didn’t like the mayor of Paris, she was a total b. and she only cared for the triathlon not to be cancelled and not for the swimmers life that are in jeopardy. This movie is called Under Paris. *** dramatic pause *** Getting past the opening teaser takes a forgiving movie-goer, because we watch our protagonist survive and impossible situation. She runs out of breath while screaming underwater, her ears burst under sea pressure, and yet she swims to the surface. The movie doesn't get any better after that. It is a very bad story Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Dan R Netflix's 'Under Paris' sees the shark genre return to prominence.SYNOPSIS: 'To save Paris from a bloodbath, a grieving scientist is forced to face her tragic past when a giant shark appears in the Seine.'A Gallic entry into the shark attack genre of films wasn't on my to watch list for 2024 but here we are and this film is lots of bloody fun.'Under Paris' positions itself in a welcome middle ground, knowing when to flirt with humor and when to play on the desperation and horror of a shark attack. You can't really fault it for its delivery.Storywise it's a bit wobbly, if not ridiculous at times, but some of this could be what's lost in translation. But within this genre sometimes the dafter things become the better the film is.It’s dopey but not stupid, outlandish but not silly, violent but not gratuitous, and serious but not so serious that it isn’t great fun.I didn't need the environmental subtext though.
