Marrying environmental themes with bloody thrills, this Gallic entry into the shark attack canon ultimately lands on the right side of ridiculous fun.

Under Paris | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Linda Holmes NPR It unfolds like a fairly classy suspense film about a rarely seen threat. It does not look cheap in the way Sharknado did, for instance. It’s quite competently shot and edited, it’s tense, and it’s frightening. In other words, it gets the job done. Jun 27, 2024 Full Review Under Paris | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Ben Travis Empire Magazine A solid shark thriller whose admirable but clunky eco-warnings almost get in the way of a good time. Best when it allows itself to really go in-Seine. Rated: 3/5 Jun 14, 2024 Full Review Under Paris | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Tasha Robinson Polygon One of the most substantive of the many aquatic-attack horror movies that have tried to coast along in the wake of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws… But when the inevitable bloodbath starts, Under Paris seems to be cribbing from much messier shark attack movies. Rated: 42/100 Jun 14, 2024 Full Review Under Paris | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The awkwardness of a CG monstrosity darting around escalates; the movements are terribly amateurish in their designs. Rated: 5/10 Aug 25, 2024 Full Review Under Paris | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Louisa Moore Screen Zealots Dumb yet creative, preachy yet thrilling, this horror/disaster movie takes its outlandish premise to all the places that fans of the killer shark genre will appreciate. Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Under Paris | Rotten Tomatoes (6) JK Sooja Common Sense Media There are moments that betray this inevitability, of course, but its tone never hesitates. Played completely straight, no one in this film seems to notice how ridiculous their predicament is. Jul 8, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Regina P I didn’t like it at all. Firstly I didn’t like the mayor of Paris, she was a total b. and she only cared for the triathlon not to be cancelled and not for the swimmers life that are in jeopardy. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Frankie B Way over the top of you can get through the early cheesy parts. Amazing FX and ridiculous fun. Fabulous ending Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review TI H There have been only two good shark movies, Jaws and the Shallows. This movie is called Under Paris. *** dramatic pause *** Getting past the opening teaser takes a forgiving movie-goer, because we watch our protagonist survive and impossible situation. She runs out of breath while screaming underwater, her ears burst under sea pressure, and yet she swims to the surface. The movie doesn't get any better after that. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/07/24 Full Review Abhishek S The Movie is very boring and loses its charm due to the actresses overreacting nature. It is a very bad story Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Dan R Netflix's 'Under Paris' sees the shark genre return to prominence.SYNOPSIS: 'To save Paris from a bloodbath, a grieving scientist is forced to face her tragic past when a giant shark appears in the Seine.'A Gallic entry into the shark attack genre of films wasn't on my to watch list for 2024 but here we are and this film is lots of bloody fun.'Under Paris' positions itself in a welcome middle ground, knowing when to flirt with humor and when to play on the desperation and horror of a shark attack. You can't really fault it for its delivery.Storywise it's a bit wobbly, if not ridiculous at times, but some of this could be what's lost in translation. But within this genre sometimes the dafter things become the better the film is.It’s dopey but not stupid, outlandish but not silly, violent but not gratuitous, and serious but not so serious that it isn’t great fun.I didn't need the environmental subtext though. It's a distraction. An excellent shark movie.7/10 Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/10/24 Full Review Audience Member The acting was bad, every decision made in the movie was outragesly bad and effects were goofy.
